Well today was the 4th day I received my Neupagen. It is an interesting medicine. I think I have been truly blessed because I think the only side affects I have noticed are achy bones like the flu, a littlm e fever, and swollen lower legs and feet....but then I think...HEY, the medicine is working. My stem cells are increasing. I can put up with this because it means I am going forward.
I lab drawn today checking my CD34 cells. they are the ones they are watching to see if I am ready to harvest..I still think that sounds funny.me being harvested. Anyway, after i had my blood drawn they gave me shot number 4. The medicine is very thick but they give it really slow and it doesn't hurt at all during injection.
Right after injection I had an experience that I have had a few times over the past few months. I could feel my heart beating. You walk around all day and you don't notice your heart beating. Well I have had times I actually feel it beating fast and sometimes irregular. Well I have been warned to tell them anything symptoms i feel. I am to call if I have a fever over 100.4 or shortness of breath or any other unusual symptom. I mention to the nurse perhaps she would like to listen to my heart that I thought it was dancing in there. She listened and then replied..now this is so cute as she was sincere, "Darling, you are right, it is dancing .." I ended up having an EKG which wasn't normal, imagine that; and then they called the cardiologist. I got to make more new friends. I met a PA associated with the cardiologist group at LDS hospital. Of course this was a Monday and I was messing up alot of people's Monday. It took about an hour for them to come and of course by the time they got there my heart was back in regular rhythm.
They had reviewed my wonderful heart workup in Oct and that saved me having to have a stress test today or anything else. They sent me home with another prescription to help regulate the rhythm of my heart.
It had started out to be such a good day. I felt pretty good except of course my back but it wasn't unbearable today. Overall, except for that side trip at the hospital it was a great day. It was good because my heart did it's trick and was finally caught on EKG but it was ok to not have to go through this whole work up again. Thank goodness for my wonderful primary care who had me have all of these workups prior to coming down. I am seeing time and time again how insightful Dr. Strong and Dr. Garg were. They are truly my heros.
I think as this day closes of a quote my dad used to say " All is well that ends well." So All is Well. New adventure tomorrow.
I continue to receive such an outpouring of love and support and I just want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH. You will never know how much it means to me.
I love it--"I got to make new friends." Aunt Linda, you're amazing!
