Update on My Health

On March 31st I was diagnosed with plasma cell neoplasm with amyloidosis of the kidneys and heart. Amyloidosis is a rare disease. It is only within the past 15 years that it has been treated.
I receive hard chemo and a bone marrow transplant at the LDS Hospital Bone Marrow Unit.
I start my pre transplant workup on May 12. We are awaiting results from the Rochester Mayo Clinic which we are hoping will identify the subtype of Amyloidosis and give Dr. Finn Bo Petersen direction on how to treat.

I was basically home bound, bed bound from the end of Jan until mid April. The past couple of weeks I have been given the "gift of daily strength". I have been able to function fairly well and accomplish the huge task of delegating my life. My husband and children have been amazing. The support of our friends and neighbors has been extremely humbling. I know I am very blessed.
