New friends

Yesterday I went to Salt Lake for a couple of doctor appointments. I met with a new cardiologist that specializes with rhythm of the heart. I was so impressed and felt grateful I was referred to him. He trained at Mayo in Rochester and has seen lots of amyloidosis patients. I told him I was thrilled to meet someone who had seen lots of amyloidosis patients. He is following me for my atrial fibrillation. I have continued to have irregular and erratic rhythms. He told me that it was important to know if I had the atrial fib in the hospital because of the inflammation from the chemo or if it was from the amyloidosis. He is ordering another Holter test in a couple of months to check for it. If it is due to the amyloid I need to be on Coumadin. If it was because of chemo and inflammation I am ok on a baby aspirin. I don't feel when my heart goes into atrial fib just when I have extra beats, tachycardia and irregularities.

I also met the 5th oncologist on the Bone marrow transplant team. She was on maternity leave when I was in the hospital. She is very nice too. I also met my 6th PA out of 9. What a team. I was so blessed to be guided to them.

I probably have another compression fracture of the spine. I sort of guessed that from the pain. I measured shorter again!!! I am glad that I was given the ok from the BMT to start on a bone building medicine. Hopefully we can rebuild what the Amyloidosis has destroyed, before I shrink anymore. :)

I also got to visit Grandma Jane. She looked so much better than the last time I saw her. She is getting stronger. I saw her walk with her walker with very minimal help to the bathroom. She is still struggling with a leaky ostomy and very irritated skin around it and no appetite. I told her I for one would not tell her she had to eat. I remember that problem so very clearly and everyone was saying you have to eat. It almost becomes a psychological issue. I just encouraged her to try it, taste it, because one day it will taste good. It was soooo good to spend time with her.
